|the_moriarty||04:00 pm - Rice Work if You Can Get It|
Today I took my Mum out for afternoon tea for her birfday to a fancy tea house, where she ordered what was called an 'afternoon tiffin'. It took me a few minutes to work out why this was sounding so familiar - my Mum was talking about "you know, in India, they get people to carry their food to their work in these tiffin boxes...." - then, I realised: Bedlam From Bollywood and the big role tiffin boxes play in it!
So, today, I ate afternoon tea from a tiffin box for the first time and it was great.
For anyone living in Perth, you too can indulge in this Cairo Jim related activity by going to the 'Leaf' tea rooms in Cottesloe or Mt Lawley. So cool!

I just found the letters that Geoffrey McSkimming wrote to me and I thought people might be interested. There's another one as well. Let me know if you want it.

I am officially your fourth member!!
My name's Phoebe, I'm 17 (18 in three weeks) and am from Western Australia. I started reading Cairo Jim when I was about 11, and loved them. I wrote to Geoffrey McSkimming twice and got replies both times!
Now, I've just finished school and am facing the prospect of two whole months before Uni starts, which is a very scary thought. Hence, I'm rereading every book in the house. I just finished After the Puce Empresss, and I went to my library this morning and got four books out. I have never read the last three Cairo Jim books, so I'm trying to get the earlier ones before I attempt the unread. I wish that Jim and Jocelyn would get together (I told Geoffrey as much), but I don't know that that will ever happen since ti is a childrens' series....
I'll post again soon to see how much headway I've made with all this rereading.
Nice to meet you all (all three of you!!)

So Jess, what did you think of 'Silenius'?

What can I say...? I love Euripides Doodah and I'm so happy that he and Katerina are together now. He was so socially inept. Yay!
I can't believe that Joss wasn't mentioned once! Not even in passing! That is just not fair, I live for the Jim/Jocelyn moments... *sigh*
I wish someone would give Desdemona a bath and get rid of her fleas. I wish Bone would bath, dress better and stop smoking those Belch of Brouhaha cigars... they make me sick just reading about them lol.
I really liked this book. I don't feel that it is as good as the earlier ones, but that's the same with a lot of series I guess. Anyway my favourite part was when Eviadne finally found her peace. It was such a moving moment.
*sigh* Jim's so lovely :D
