02:24 am - A question for GS...
May I ask a question geoffreyofcairo?

What happened to Evert Ploeg? In my humble opinion, those were the best CJ covers. I miss them.

Also, why did they start printing them so they are taller than the early editions? It makes my collection look very odd on my bookshelf.

Ah, E, you are right in line with all of this; in fact, the reason that CJ and Joss's faces are never shown in the Australian versions is because I have always had my agent include a clause in all contracts for the books that their faces should never be revealed. I've always wanted my readers to make the characters their own, and it's also for this reason that I never really describe their faces. OK, we know that Joss's hair is tangly auburn and I think I wrote in one of the books that Jim has blue eyes (because I do myself, I think that was why I wrote that), but that's the extent of the facial descriptions I've written. Always, when a reader can use imagination to flesh out a story or character or setting or whatever, the experience between author and reader gets a special bond, and the story has a greater chance of achieving a longer, and better, resonance with the reader. That's just my two piastres worth.

I really appreciate that :D
