I got a little creative and did a teensy redesign on the community. I thought it needed to look more Cairo Jim-ish. So, here we go. We'll try this for a while. What do you think? There's not a lot you can do with a basic account...
I also think we need to get this community kicking. Anyone interested in a Cairo Jim reread? You know, we all read Cairo Jim on the trail to Cha Cha Muchos, within a set time, and then discuss it :)

I've just edited this Wikipedia page to include Geoffrey McSkimming, and also added this community to this Wikipedia page :)
Strange to think that for the last 16 years I've been looking forward to a new Cairo Jim book around this time, starting to get excited... And this year I'm not.
Jim, Joss, Doris, Brenda, Mrs Amun Ra, Gerald Perry Esquire, even Bone and Desdemona... I miss you!

Hello, friends of Jim!
Today whilst I was "studying" for my exams I decided to scan in some classic Jim covers because I wanted to have the pictures on my computer. If anyone else would like them, here are links to the scans (resized to around 460x750 pixels)!
Cairo Jim and the Alabastron of Forgotten Gods
Cairo Jim and the Lagoon of Tidal Magnificence
After the Puce Empress
These are the only ones I own with the old covers but when I have less "studying" to do I might head down to the fine old local library and scan some more. Some real great work on these covers!
And here is another Jim treat for you, from the literal ( pages of historyCollapse )
In other news, who has read Astragals? What did you think?

Moriarty and I met for the first time last week at a tea place in Perth. We ordered the tiffin and discussed Cairo Jim and our theories on the next book. Fun, fun, fun :D
So thank you Geoffrey of Cairo, if it weren't for you, Moriarty and I wouldn't be friends :D

|cerulean_breeze||11:18 am - Cairo Jim Bumper Book of Flabbergasting Fragments.|
I was reading my copy last night and noticed that it has "Rejected Copy - Not For Sale" (or words to that effect) stamped in red ink on the title page. Now, why would it have been rejected? I picked it up on eBay (and for that I apologise to G) because I was unable to find it elsewhere.
How dare someone reject Jim! LOL

|cerulean_breeze||02:24 am - A question for GS...|
May I ask a question geoffreyofcairo?
What happened to Evert Ploeg? In my humble opinion, those were the best CJ covers. I miss them.
Also, why did they start printing them so they are taller than the early editions? It makes my collection look very odd on my bookshelf.

|cerulean_breeze||08:13 pm - A question regarding "Cairo Jim and the Quest for the Quetzal Queen"|
If Jim is indeed going to live for a very long time after drinking the water in the book, how will he feel when he outlives Jocelyn? Wouldn't that be horrible to live on and watch everyone you hold dear pass away. At least Doris and Brenda were in the water too.
